Web analytics

Web analytics is a term meaning the tracking of the impact of a website on its user actions.

Most website operators (companies or private persons) often use Web analytics software to measure metrics such as number of visitors, how many of those visitors were unique visitors, how they came to the site (i.e., if they followed a link to get to the site, became aware via advertising campaigns or came there directly), what keywords they searched in a search engine, how long they stayed on a page and the entire site and what links they clicked on, when they left the site.
